Nag-umpisa ang programa ng 8:00 ng umaga (ICT) na sinundan ng pambungad na mensahe mula sa SEAMEO Secretariat Director at ang awarding ceremony kung saan iginawad ang parangal. Nakamit ang parangal ng grupo ng mag-aaral na sina Xyrel James Canonoy, Zyriel Josh Coronel,  Elyzza Marie Esteban, at Neil Josh Icaro, sa ilalim ng gabay nina Bb. Rexielle Joy Villareal, Bb. Maria Theresa Estilong, at Dr. Mark Anthony Familaran, bilang pagkilala sa kanilang partisipasyon sa 2024 SEAMEO-Japan ESD Award na may temang “Promoting Lifelong STEM Learning through Community Engagement.” Ipinakita sa bidyo na kanilang isinumite ang Project Vinculum, kung saan tinalakay ang iba’t ibang makabago at progresibong mga programa na magsusulong ng kaunlaran sa paaralan at komunidad. Nagbigay ang programang ito ng pagkakataon sa mga indibidwal mula sa iba’t ibang bahagi ng Timog-Silangang Asya upang ipamalas ang kanilang mga makabagong mga paraan ng pagtugon sa mga hamon sa edukasyon ngayon. Itong tagumpay ay nagbigay-diin sa suporta mula sa mga lokal na lider, kabilang sina Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano, Konsehal Joey Calixto Isidro, na nagpakita ng kanilang dedikasyon sa pagpapaunlad ng edukasyon sa Lungsod ng Pasay. Ang 47th SEAMEO High Officials Meeting na isinagawa mula ika-26 hanggang ika-28 ng Nobyembre 2024 sa Bangkok, Thailand, ay isang mahalagang kaganapan na nagpakita ng dedikasyon ng mga lider sa edukasyon at iba pang mga propesyonal mula sa buong Timog-Silangang Asya sa inobasyon, kolaborasyon, at patuloy na pagpapabuti ng edukasyon sa kasalukuyang panahon. Bangkok, Thailand – Dr. Mark Anthony Familaran, Principal II of Pasay City National Science High School, received the First Place Award of the school during the prestigious 47th SEAMEO High Officials Meeting held at the Royal Orchid Sheraton Hotel & Towers, Bangkok, Thailand, on November 27, 2024. The award was presented during the Southeast Asian Educational Innovation Awards segment, which showcased groundbreaking initiatives from institutions across the region. Science secured the top spot with Project Vinculum, an innovative program designed to promote sustainable development through its five key components: Buklod, Abante, Sibol, Binhi, and Likha. The award-winning video entry was conceptualized and crafted by an exceptional team of students: Elyzza Marie Esteban, Neil Josh Icaro, Zyriel Josh Coronel, and Xyrel James Canonoy, under the expert guidance of Senior High School teachers Rexielle Joy Villareal and Maria Theresa Estilong and School Principal Dr. Mark Anthony Familaran. The SEAMEO High Officials Meeting, an annual gathering of Southeast Asian education leaders and stakeholders, fosters collaboration and innovation within the region’s education systems. This year’s event focused on inclusivity and addressing the challenges of modern education. Attended by key policymakers and education professionals, the event featured inspiring keynote speeches, plenary sessions, and presentations from SEAMEO member countries and partners. This monumental success was made possible through the unwavering support of Pasay City Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano, and Konsehal Joey Calixto Isidro, who serves as the Education Committee Chair of the Pasay City Local Government Unit. Sinimulan ang kaganapan sa rehistrasyon ng mga mag-aaral na sinundan ng doxology at pormal na binuksan ang programa ganap na 8:30 ng umaga sa pangunguna nina Xyrel James Canonoy at Shaun Mustang G. Jacinto bilang mga tagapagdaloy ng programa. Nagbigay ng pambungad na pananalita ang punongguro ng PCNSciHS na si Dr. Mark Anthony F. Familaran, na sinundan ng pagpapakilala ni Gng. Maria Leonora Luisa B. Angeles, Teacher-in-Charge ng Work Immersion, ang tagapagsalita na si Bb. Kiana F. Isturis, isang lisensyadong guro. Tinalakay ng tagapagsalita ang mga inaasahan sa work immersion, mga kasanayang dapat taglayin, at mga impormasyong kailangang alamin bago mag-apply. Pinangunahan ng mga tagapagdaloy ng programa ang takeaway activity kung saan hinikayat ang mga mag-aaral na ibahagi ang kanilang natutunan mula sa naging talakayan. Sinundan ito ng isang intermisyon mula kay Mekylla Marie Villapaña ng 12-Del Mundo, at tinapos ito ng saktong 10:02 n.u. sa pangwakas na pananalita ni Anica Martha C. Victoria, kinatawan ng SSLG ng Baitang 12. Samantala, ang orientation para sa mga magulang ay sinimulan ng 12:30 ng tanghali sa pamamagitan ng rehistrasyon na sinundan ng preliminaries. Nagbigay ng pambungad na pananalita si Dr. Mark Anthony F. Familaran, at sinundan ito ng Work Immersion Talk kasama sina Gng. Maria Leonora Luisa B. Angeles, Gng. Jackyline T. Lagaña, puno, Kagawaran ng Ingles. Natapos  ang kaganapan ganap na 3:00 ng hapon sa pangwakas na pananalita ni Gng. Lagaña. Nagbigay-liwanag sa mga mag-aaral ang kahalagahan ng work immersion bilang paghahanda para sa kanilang kinabukasan ang kabuoan ng programa.

Myra Jaime at Mark Matthew Vitug Nagwagi ang tatlong mag-aaral ng Pasay City National Science High School sa magkakaibang patimpalak na ginanap bilang pagdiriwang sa Buwan ng Filipino Values ngayong Nobyembre. Iniuwi ni Ma. Jhoanna Mae A. Muega, mag-aaral sa ikasampung baitang ng pangkat Einstein ang unang gantimpala para sa Division Values Education Spoken Poetry Contest na ginanap nitong Martes, ika-19 ng Nobyembre sa Epifanio delos Santos Elementary School (EDSES). Nakamit naman ni James Christopher G. Lusuegro, mag-aaral mula sa ikapitong baitang ng pangkat Edison ang ikaapat na gantimpala sa Poster Making Contest. Habang si Nicole Margareth C. Sy mula sa ikawalong baitang ng pangkat Aristotle ay ipinamalas ang kanyang angking galing sa pagkamit ng kampeonato sa tagisan ng talino sa asignaturang Edukasyon sa Pagpapakatao (ESP) noong ika-6 ng Nobyembre mula alas-otso ng umaga hanggang alas-kuwatro ng hapon sa EDSES. Bilang pagdiriwang ng Buwan ng Filipino Values na may temang “Pagsulong ng Bagong Pilipinas: Ang kabataan bilang pundasyon ng pagbabago”, umiikot dito ang tula ni Muega na may pamagat na, “Juan sa Panibagong Bayan” pati ang likhang-sining ni Lusuegro. Ang tula ni Muega ay hinggil sa mga katangian na kailangan ng isang kabataan upang maabot ang mga pangarap na magdudulot ng pagbabago sa lipunan. ‘Ika nga niya, “Ang pinakapaborito ko talagang linya sa aking tula ay ang ‘Dito na natin masisimulan, ang paghakbang ni Juan sa isang panibagong bayan’ sapagkat dito maipakikita ang ating pagkakaisa at pagtitiyaga upang marating ang isang bagong Pilipinas.” Sa pagsasanay at patnubay ni G. Emerson T. Constantino, Master Teacher I ng Kagawaran ng Araling Panlipunan at Edukasyon sa Pagpapakatao ay matagumpay na itinanghal ni Muega ang kanyang tula. Samantala, sinimulan ni Lusuegro ang kanyang poster noong Nobyembre 7-10 at ito ay ipinasa ng kanyang gurong tagapagsanay na si Gng. Mary Grace T. Dela Cruz noong Nobyembre 11 sa Dibisyon ng Pasay. Gumamit si Lusuegro ng 1/4 illustration board at oil pastels upang ipakita ang mga pagpapahalaga ng mga Pilipino sa kanyang obra. Sa kabilang dako, pinaghandaan ni Sy ang patimpalak para sa tagisan ng talino gamit ang mga librong babasahin at mga inihandang pagsusulit ni G. Jojo Ray Dela Cruz, ang kanyang gurong tagapagsanay. Tumagal ng dalawang araw ang kanyang pag-eensayo sa naturang paligsahan. Ang kompetisyon ay binubuo ng tatlong yugto: unang yugto na ’easy’ na tig-iisang puntos, pangalawang yugto na ’average’ na tiglilimang puntos, at huling yugto na ‘difficult’ na tigsasampung puntos. Tinatayang nasa siyam na paaralan ang nakiisa sa kompetisyon para sa tagisan ng talino. Sumunod sa ikalawang pwesto ang Pasay City South High School (PCSHS) samantalang ikatlong gantimpala ang nakamit ng Kalayaan National High School (KNHS). “Huwag n’yong hahayaan na pangunahan kayo ng kaba at always believe in yourself, no matter what happens! Don’t be pressured and stressed kasi iniisip n’yo na baka hindi kayo manalo. Because at the end of the day, being chosen as a representative for our school is already a big and proud achievement,” aniya sa mga estudyanteng magsasagisag sa paaralan sa hinaharap.

A total of one gold, five silver, and one bronze medals secured the overall championship of PaScians in the NCR Regional Robolution 2024, held from November 23-24. The awards are as follows: Neil Josh Icaro, Mcklain Gutierrez, and Suyash Singh 1st Runner Up Mobile Controlled E-Robot Khent Sembran, Claire Mendoza, and Rachel David 1st Runner Up E-Mobile Robot Marco Mallorca, Santine Susa, and Zuriel Vicedo Champion E-Robo Quiz Bee Din Naorbe, Gabrielle Veridiano, and Kevin Factor 1st Runner Up E-Robo Quiz Bee 2nd Runner Up E-Robot Version 1 Singh and Icaro 1st Runner Up Freestyle Category Best Presenters Murata Choice Award The group, trained by Ms. Aizah Agub, received a cash prize of Php 10,000 and will be competing in the international level.

The event hosted by Xyrel Canonoy and Zyriel Coronel featured the awardees from the following competitions: Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO) Education for Sustainable Development (ESD), Thailand International Mathematical Olympiad (TIMO), and the National Mathletics Challenge (NMC). Canonoy and Coronel, together with Elyzza Esteban and Neil Icaro, bagged the first in the SEAMEO-ESD competition and are expected to go to Japan for a study tour, while TIMO Bronze medalist Filha Bautista will be going to Thailand to compete once again. In the NMC, a total of five gold, ten silver, and five bronze medals were garnered by students from grades 7-12 in the Advanced Arithmetic Aces, Proficient Problem Solvers, and Masterful Mathematicians Categories. Teachers from the Mathematics Department, together with Ms. Maria Estilong and Principal Dr. Mark Anthony Familaran, were also honored afterwards. The event ended at 9:04 a.m.    

By: Alhea Jane BarriosCopyedited by Stacie Marie Catallo Pasay City National Science High School held “Cursum Perficio: The Work Immersion Orientation” on November 19, at the school gymnasium, aiming to prepare Grade 12 students for real-world experiences through their upcoming Work Immersion program. The event began with an icebreaker activity, followed by opening remarks from Work Immersion Teacher Mrs. Maria Leonora Luisa Angeles. Guest speaker Ms. Kiana Isturis, LPT, presented an overview of what work immersion is, what to expect, what to prepare, and a summary of her talk. She ended her presentation with a quote: “Make the most out of the experience and enjoy the process of learning.” A takeaway session allowed students to reflect on the talk, followed by a performance by Mekylla Villapaña. Supreme Secondary Learner Government Grade 12 Representative Anica Victoria closed the program by sharing principles for success: curiosity, stepping out of comfort zones, diligence, humility, and bringing out the best in others. The orientation concluded with a photo opportunity. Meanwhile, during the afternoon session, parents participated in their own orientation. Discussions focused on the designated work areas and the target start date, which is December 7, 2024. An open forum followed, where many parents from the batch raised questions and sought clarifications. Mrs. Angeles addressed these concerns, primarily emphasizing the safety of students during their work immersion.
