PCNSciHS introduces Preparedness Scheme for the “’New Normal”

Pasay City National Science High School initiated a preparedness scheme for the New Normal on June 3, 2020.

The school reverberates the intention of the Department of Education to continue the school year by providing quality education without sacrificing the health and safety of the learners, teachers and staff amidst the COVID-19 pandemic thus, a Learning Continuity Plan was crafted to give the school guidelines for learning opportunities at these times.

Mrs.Lovelynn Jane Bacera, the current principal of the school, reiterated steps to further equip everyone in the August 24, 2020 opening of classes. She said that there are tedious planning conducted to further empower the teachers and the staff thru video conferencing.

The school plans to use two modes of learning. Equip students with offline learning such as modular, printed or digital learning materials and to understand the distance learning with the alignment of the existing curriculum. Prepare learning assessments to foster evidence-evidence based reporting system of learner’s achievement and to form stronger relationship between the school and community.

The teachers are being trained through webinars and by giving them support for the incoming distance learning. Training in crafting their curriculum and instructions online can be sought by attending seminars and conferences to hold different teaching strategies while the learners should not left behind in coping in this times.

Emphasized also is the remote enrolment from Grade 7-12 in downloading the Learners Enrollment Survey Form (LSEF) to be validated by their previous teacher advisers by sending it in their e-mails or facebook messenger.

The work performance of the personnel of the school must be validated also in adopting a Work From Home (WFH ) scheme. Workweek plan and daily outputs of each personnel shall be submitted to ensure delivery of services and programs for school management.

Bacera highlighted the ultimate goal of this scheme is to provide quality education among learners in the time of the pandemic. The school is aware of the challenges that this school year may offer, also pleading to seek some help and support from all the stakeholders of the community.
