Pasay City National Science High School initiated a partnership with JBL Scientific to advance science education in Pasay City during an initial meeting held at the school yesterday, January 14.

The meeting marked the first collaboration between the two parties, aiming to explore JBL Scientific’s background and the services it can provide to support the school’s science programs.

The discussion was led by School Principal Dr. Mark Anthony Familaran, and Juan Benigno Luarca, owner of JBL Scientific.

Familaran said that “Ang goal ko talaga with this partnership is una, yung student-researchers na may mapupuntahan sila.”

“Pangalawa, ay para magkaroon kami ng idea kung ano ba dapat ang nasa isang laboratory,” he affirmed.

Mrs. Shannen Gomez, Research teacher, outlined the resources that JBL Scientific plans to provide, including chemicals, reagents, and essential laboratory equipment.

She emphasized the availability of advanced testing services, such as Phytochemical Analysis, UV-Vis spectroscopy, rotary evaporators, and Soxhlet apparatus.

“This is a great convenience and help (to students), especially since they are the ones who are looking for these services outside,” Gomez noted

Hopefully, this stable partnership with JBL Scientific will really help our researchers because it will save some time; students are in safe hands and well taken care of with this promising facility.”

JBL Scientific also proposed conducting workshops and seminars for the school’s science teachers to enhance their laboratory techniques and analysis skills.

Familaran expressed hopes of extending the partnership’s impact by engaging the alumni community.

“Kasi, for how many years na tayo, and marami sa mga naging alumni ay naging successful, hindi ko nararamdaman yung support nila.”

After the meeting, Familaran toured JBL Scientific’s facilities and inspected the school’s science laboratories to evaluate their equipment and overall environment.

Both parties described the gathering as productive and expressed enthusiasm for future collaborations.
