“Pasay Science has shaped me for who I am today in multiple ways. As an accounting major, it is important for us to devote most of our time to rigorous studying, reading textbooks, and working through worksheets and ledgers. Fortunately, the strong study habits I cultivated during my junior high school years at Pasay Science eased my transition into college life. I’m equally indebted to all of my teachers who instilled in me the values of hard work, discipline, and the pursuit of knowledge, which continue to guide me through the challenges of higher education. I owe special thanks to my math teachers, whose effective teaching methodologies—particularly in algebra—have proven useful in certain instances, allowing me to approach and better analyze complex accounting problems. I was also able to complete my thesis with commendable results, thanks to my research advisers for the invaluable experience in writing research papers. Once again, thank you, PaSci, for helping me reach this milestone!” -Champ

How Pasay Science Helped Me Become Who I Am Today

The advanced lessons and subjects I had at Pasay Science helped me prepare for college. Although I didn’t take STEM in Senior High School, when I chose an engineering course for college, I felt significantly behind my peers. However, I realized that the pacing, the teaching methods, and some of the material were similar to what I experienced at Pasay Science. This realization became my motivation, as I thought, “If I can survive Pasay Science, I can survive here too.”

It wasn’t easy, but once I became comfortable with the lessons and the fast pace of some of the professors, I grew confident. Pasay Science played a key role in building that confidence. Whenever I talk about my experience at PaSci, everyone is always surprised at how challenging it was and how no other school seemed to compare.

At PaSci, I didn’t see the point in having two Math, two English, and two Science classes. I wondered if I wouldn’t learn those subjects adequately even if there was only one of each. However, those additional subjects turned out to be beneficial, and I was able to excel in areas where some of my friends struggled. Yes, it was hard, but it also prepared me for some of the toughest challenges I faced in college.

Though I spent only four years at Pasay Science during junior high school, those years remain a source of pride and a strong foundation for my confidence in college.

How Pasay Science help you become who you are today?

Studying in Pasay Science influenced my mind and principles in life. They have set my standard of workmanship. They have shaped my mind through the principles I have learned from all the hardships and challenges. Because of Pasay Science, I have learned that I should not stop learning. During my HS years, I challenged myself to overcome all my weaknesses and to know myself better. Lastly, I met my friends who supported me up until now.

My Pasay Science years are truly my best years of my life. Thank you.

“Studying in Pasay Science changed me as a person. At first, I thought that it was just all about studying but it really is not. I found true friends in high school who I really cherish even up to this day.  I don’t have any regrets in studying here because it gave me the maturity and confidence that are needed for college and graduate school. My discipline when it comes to studying which I developed during high school prepared me for my pre-med and med school days.

Studying in a science high school was a humbling experience because it made me realize that life is not a competition. There will always be someone better than you. Instead of competing and comparing myself to others, I focused on finding my purpose in life. Well, I found it in treating patients who are in need of medical attention. This is what I want to do in the future.”

How did Pasay Science help you become who you are today?

Looking back at high school, I was only an average student who sometimes struggled, especially in Science and Math. I even used to fail these subjects, leading to meetings with my teacher and my parents at the guidance office. There were also moments when I cried in front of my classmates or teacher because of the setbacks I faced.

However, these experiences made me stronger and more determined. In college, sometimes I make it to the Dean’s List and graduated in 2023 as a Cum Laude. While working and preparing for the board exam, I pursued my dream of becoming a Licensed Psychometrician, passing the exam on my first try by God’s grace.

If you’ve reached this part of reading my testimony, please do know that the challenges you are not permanent. Your current situation doesn’t define how your future will turn out. Just keep trying your best as I believe you are destined for greatness, even if your timeline is different from others.

My high school journey wasn’t perfect, but it helped me grow, understand my strengths and weaknesses, and deepen my faith in God. Pasay Science played a big part in shaping who I am today, and I will always be a proud Pascian.

“Entering a Science High School was an entirely new thing for me, I really felt scared since it is new to me. Passing the exam was a surreal experience since I haven’t prepared that much, and it was a great privilege since it is a Science High School. Pasay Science mold me into a person today, the superb quality education through our educators brought the best of us, it imprinted on my system to perform as best as I should since the standards of a Science HS are really high. Skills that I have learned from HS also lead me to perform at the higher percentile of my batch during college. Pasay Science helped me to be resilient during time-crunched deadlines and schedules during college. My alma mater also helped me to remain professional during pressured times at the workplace. I certainly believe that my 6 years of stay in Pasay Science left a great mark on my life and currently the major thing why am I designed this way as I am now a private worker who is in the field of Cybersecurity. Pasay Science is also the reason why I took an Engineering degree.”

How has Pasay Science helped you become who you are today?

Not only was I able to discover my talents in music and make friends for life in this school, it was also through it that I got a full scholarship in college. My Alma Mater prepared me well for the next chapter of my life.

With my professors impressed with my performance during my first year, they took notice of me and trained me to join Interscholastic Quiz Shows all over the Philippines, and won.

Now, I’m enjoying another scholarship for my graduate studies, all because of this path I chose very early in life. Praise the Lord!

Being a part of the Pasay City Science High School Alumni was an honor. During my stay at Pasay Science, I acquired a wide range of learning skills that I found beneficial to my life. I have no doubt that coming to this school will advance your skills, knowledge, and even capabilities. Apart from my academic pursuits, I have gained extensive expertise in leadership. In that school, I began to feel more confident, and it produced positive results.

I was awarded a scholarship at the FEU Institute of Technology when I was a college student, which was exclusive to individuals who had graduated from science-focused high schools. The fact that I was able to continue my undergraduate education with the scholarship clearly marked this turning moment in my life. In addition, despite having strengthened my competence during my high school years, I was granted another scholarship provided by DOST through the JLSS Program in 2017.

These are a few of the accomplishments I have made possible by graduating from Pasay City Science High School. This institution had a significant role in my life; it was there that I learned to value who I am and to constantly strive for excellence. Pasay Science has taught me that it’s okay to be competitive. I’ve discovered that since competition drives us to constantly aim for improvement and productivity, it can be beneficial to us in some respects. However, striving for achievement requires humility, which is another quality that Pasay Science instilled in me.
