PaSci Brings Reading to Life at PZES Book Drive

via Elyzza Esteban | The Quantum Pasay City National Science High School strengthened its commitment to empowering literacy as it launched Project Arise today, November 19, at Padre Zamora Elementary School.   Project ARISE: Awakening New Insights through Reading by Igniting Curiosity, Sharing Valuable Resources, and Empowering Lifelong Learners is an initiative led by the school’s English Department, in collaboration with the Official English Organization of PCNSciHS, Le Compendium.   The project seeks to promote literacy by providing partner schools with additional reading resources, encouraging students to become lifelong learners.   The program opened with an inspiring message from Dr. Mark Anthony F. Familaran, who encouraged the young learners to nurture their love for reading.   As the main portion of the program, Pascian volunteers facilitated a series of storytelling sessions intended to promote reading engagement among the pupils. The activity affirmed the school’s commitment to supporting the development of the learners’ comprehension and foundational literacy skills.   Following the storytelling sessions, volunteers distributed the donated books collected from Pascian students, which will be part of their learning resources.   The event concluded with a heartfelt message from Ms. Anabella Cusi, who shared her appreciation for PZES and their enthusiasm in being part of the activity.   “To be able to make time for elementary students, donate books and reading materials to them, and talk to them felt really fulfilling for Le Compendium. The event proved how significant it is for students, especially young ones, to be reminded of the power and influence of reading. Through storytelling, we were able to read stories to students with fun and enthusiasm, and we hope that this will give them motivation to continue reading, starting with the books that we have given to each student, and appreciate the beauty of literature with their young minds,” shared Ms. Remmy Parcia, Le Compendium President.   “We plan to expand Project ARISE even further by visiting other elementary schools, barangay learning centers, and day care centers to spread the love for reading—especially at a time when so many are distracted by social media and gadgets,” said Mrs. Jackyline T. Lagaña, Head Teacher of the English Department.   Photos by: Elyzza Esteban & Rhen Figuera
