These were what ERovoutika emphasized during their visit at Pasay City National Science High School on Monday, September 16. In a seminar held at the school’s audio-visual room at 11:00 a.m., the robotics company introduced itself and the 3rd Robolution Competition to be held on December 6 and 7. The competition will include the following categories: E-robot, Robosim, Humanoid, Erovouthon, Super AI Challenge, Quiz Bee, E-mega Sumobot, Freestyle, and Mobile Controlled E-Robot. Speaker John Loyd Masipag encouraged the students to join in the Freestyle category, a competition that features research studies utilizing Arduino, as he believes that the students are already familiar with research writing. After the introduction of the competition, Masipag showcased Yanshee, a robot that was able to sing, dance, and do push-ups. Engr. James Ryan also presented the robot prototypes used in line tracing (E-Robot) and E-Mega afterwards. The seminar ended at 12:30 p.m. with the closing remarks of Dr. Mark Anthony Familaran, school principal. The school, using donations from parents, has also bought 10 robotic kits from ERovoutika that will be used by students for learning. Members of the school’s robotics club, Innovative Robotics for Youth and Science (IRYS), together with adviser Aizah Agub, are expected to take part in the said competition.

SPTA Champions Robotics Program at Pasay City National Science High School
by: Mark Anthony F. Familaran Pasay City, September 11, 2024 — The oathtaking ceremony of the newly elected officers of the Schools Parents and Teachers Association (SPTA) at Pasay City National Science High School (PCNSciHS) took on a special significance yesterday. In a show of strong community support, the SPTA announced their commitment to backing the school’s promising Robotics Program. Held at the PCNSciHS gymnasium, the ceremony set the stage for an exciting development. The school will soon participate in ROBOLUTION2024: The 3rd Robotics and Automation Summit and Competition, scheduled for November 23-24, 2025, at Don Bosco Technical Institute of Makati. This event aims to bolster technical skills in Electronics, Robotics, and Automation among industry practitioners, engineers, teachers, and students. In preparation for the competition, PCNSciHS has procured initial Robotics Kits to spark students’ interest and curiosity in the field. However, to enhance their knowledge further and to compete effectively, the school requires additional Robotics and Automation Kits. These kits will be essential both for classroom learning and for honing skills in the upcoming competition. The SPTA’s announcement to donate 10 sets of these advanced kits was met with enthusiasm. This generous contribution highlights the crucial role of parent-school partnerships in advancing educational programs. The donated kits will provide students with hands-on experience, paving the way for a deeper understanding of robotics and automation. “This collaboration is a testament to how united efforts can elevate our students’ learning experiences,” said a school representative. “The SPTA’s support will undoubtedly make a significant difference in our students’ educational journey and their performance in the upcoming competition.” The SPTA’s commitment underscores the importance of community involvement in educational initiatives. By equipping students with cutting-edge tools and opportunities, the partnership aims to foster a strong foundation in robotics and prepare them for future technological advancements. As PCNSciHS gears up for ROBOLUTION2024, the combined efforts of the school and the SPTA promise to drive success and innovation, benefiting students and setting a precedent for future educational endeavors.

Stay; Tomorrow needs you!
Caption: Sofia Michiko Yamamoto, Aliyah Lopez and Joebbie Krizel Gaugano Layout: Peter Aslan Bien and Chloe Garcia Suicide remains one of the most pressing public health concerns in the world, reaching an all-time high during the pandemic. While cases in some countries were noted to decline during the first year of the pandemic, suicide attempts among the youth in the Philippines increased to 7.5% in 2021 from 3% in 2013, representing an increase of 150%. Likewise, about 20% of young Filipinos considered suicide, representing about five million young individuals. Thus, through the International Association for Suicide Prevention, together with the World Health Organization (WHO), World Suicide Prevention Day was established in 2003. Every year, on the 2nd week of September, the Suicide Prevention Awareness Week aims to emphasize the issue on suicide, erase the stigma of mental health, raise awareness amongst organizations, government, and the public, and conduct seminars and various activities. In our world today, where everyone faces their inner and silent battles, the SSLG wants to remind you that you are not alone. While it may seem that way in the midst of the overwhelming chaos, please remember that there are people who will always be there to support you. Never be afraid to ask for help, because you matter. Your stories, your journey, your hope, your life, your pain, and your joy—all of it matters. Let us not forget that mental health is just as important as our physical health. Let’s not turn a blind eye to those struggling with it. Let us build a community that’s able to help and support each other through the tough times. Together, let’s break the stigma around mental health and move forward. You are loved. You are valued. You are enough. You always will be. Stay; Tomorrow needs you. Students honor Filipino Sign Language for Buwan ng Wika 2024
By: Hannah Vere Copyedited by: Ayesha Julia Ronquillo, Jewel Winslet Vallejo Photos: Daniel Quintin, Reisha Uy, and Jed Palonpon To raise awareness about our country’s native sign language, Mr. Francis P. Martin, a teacher at the Philippine School for the Deaf, led a lecture for PaScians during the culminating activity for Buwan ng Wika in the gymnasium on August 30, 2024. Martin shed light upon topics associated with the history of FSL (Filipino Sign Language), the importance of sign language, the causes of going deaf, and informational activities that taught the learners some basic words and gestures in both ASL (American Sign language) and FSL. He advised learners to exercise and stretch their hands before beginning to teach them the basic letters, numbers, colors, polite phrases, and their self-introduction. Following the conclusion of Mr. Martin’s discussion, the representatives of each winning section of grade levels 8 to 12 walked on stage to claim their respective certificates for having the “Best Video about Misinformation”. The winning sections are: Grade 8 – Aristotle, Grade 9 – Mendeleev, Grade 10 – Rutherford, Grade 11 – Banzon, and Grade 12 – Quisumbing. Filipino Department Coordinator Myra Jaime formally ended the event with her closing remarks, “Nasa sa’tin kung paano natin gagamitin ang ating wika. Sapagkat kapag hindi natin minahal ang ating sariling wika, ito ay kusang mamamatay. Sabi nga ng ating pambansang bayani na si Dr. Jose Rizal, ‘Ang hindi marunong magmahal sa sariling wika, ay higit pa sa malansang isda.’ Sino pa ba ang magtataguyod sa ating wika? Kundi tayo mismo na mga Pilipino.”
